Physical Education and Recreation Leadership
Physical Education 10 + CALM 20 (Female/Male/Coed)
Students will participate and acquire skills and knowledge in a variety of activities. This includes dance, individual and team games, traditional and non-traditional sports and field trips, including activities in alternative environments (swimming, golf, bowling, arena and curling). Physical Education 10 and CALM (Career and Life Management) are required courses for completion of a high school diploma.
Physical Education 20 and 30 (Female/Male/Coed)
Physical Education 20 and 30 are excellent courses for students looking to pursue new opportunities in physical activity and continue to improve their skills and knowledge in familiar activities. Throughout these courses they will develop their leadership skills and knowledge.
Sports Performance (Recreational Leadership) 15, 25, and 35
Students develop skills that enhance their athletic development. Through a combination of theoretical and practical lessons, students will learn essential skills in injury management, sport psychology, training principles and health and wellness. Students will use a variety of training methods to increase athletic performance and must be highly motivated to train physically on a daily basis. This can be taken as an optional class.
Yoga 15, 25 and 35
Students will continue their yoga practice to develop physical literacy and related health benefits. Through yoga, students will develop skills that enable them to develop well-being, balance multiple aspects of their lives and manage priorities. Courses may be offered during or outside of the regular timetable.
