Culinary Arts - Culinary Arts is a practical food science where students develop a real-life understanding of workplace skills through immersive team-building and technical practice. These skills are demonstrated through hands-on personal menu creation, food artistry, marketing, business and health management.
Food Studies - Foods teaches students the basics of food preparation and increases their skills to an intermediate and advanced level. Whether you want to pursue a career in the culinary arts or simply want to improve your skills, food studies will provide you with that opportunity. Students will explore a variety of cuisines, food safety, cooking techniques and presentation methods.
Communications Technology - Using a variety of materials, students will engage in forms of communication and production including print, audio, photo, web design and animation.
Design Studies - Design Studies helps students learn the fundamentals of 2 - D, 3 - D and Computer Aided Design as well as technical drafting and design. Students will engage in a personalized project related to design. The course may lead to more focussed studies in interior, industrial, and architectural design studies.
Mechanics - Mechanics goes beyond the basic operational maintenance and focuses on vehicle repair and system knowledge. This course will satisfy those with a general interest and those looking to pursue mechanics as a career. Students will develop the skills and competencies of a mechanic by practicing on shop vehicles.
Computing Science - Computing Science introduces and develops student skills in computational thinking and problem solving while teaching students how to code. There are opportunities for students to create games, construct websites and build robots while learning several different programming languages. Students are also introduced to different careers and educational opportunities within the area of computer science.
Leadership - Leadership is a unique setting where our students demonstrate social responsibility, ethical citizenship and youth engagement. Our student leaders work upfront and behind the scenes to raise awareness, inspire, educate,support and make our world better. Student leaders plan projects, organize student events and clubs, engage in respectful dialogue and are proud ambassadors of our school. (May be offered in before or after school classes).
Design Thinking for Innovation - The Design Thinking for Innovation course gives the opportunity for students to engage in long term, increasingly complex, personally relevant, design, innovation and invention projects that require a significant investment to conceptualize, design, prototype, iterate, and refine. Projects are interdisciplinary in nature. The nature of the course is to apply design thinking methodologies, mindsets, and processes to explorations into innovation and invention.
Recreational Leadership - Rec Leadership students develop skills that enhance their athletic development. Through a combination of theoretical and practical lessons, students will learn essential skills in injury management, sport psychology, training principles and health and wellness. Students will use a variety of training methods to increase athletic performance and must be highly motivated to train physically on a daily basis.
Yoga - Students will learn yoga practice to develop physical literacy and related health benefits. Through yoga, students will develop skills that enable them to develop well-being, balance multiple aspects of their lives, and manage priorities. (May be offered in before or after school classes).
